Stabbing Remains Under Investigation In Bartow County

The victim told sheriff's deputies he was robbed and stabbed Friday morning by an unknown assailant.

KINGSTON, GA — Officers continue to investigate the case of a man who said he was stabbed while walking towards Kingston early Friday morning. The Bartow County Sheriff's Office, which initially responded to the Jan. 26 incident, said it's turned the investigation over to the Kingston Police Department.

"Our investigation did not uncover any information, nor could we verify the validity of the victim's statements, which were several different versions of events," said spokesperson Sgt. Jonathan Rogers. "We do not believe that this was a random incident."

According to an incident report released by the sheriff's office, a deputy was dispatched around 8:44 a.m. Friday to a call of an armed robbery and aggravated assault to a home on Shaw Street in Kingston.

He met with a woman who said she was driving towards Cartersville on Howard Street when she saw her fiance "sitting by the driveway" of a home on East Howard Street. The man, she said, was holding his chest, and told her he had been stabbed and robbed.

She took her fiance home and found a puncture wound to the left side of his chest. The stabbing victim, a 42-year-old Kingston resident, was only able to tell deputies that a white male "robbed him and stabbed him on the side of the road," the report states. He could not provide any description of the male and noted he did not know his alleged attacker.
