Suspect Charged With Murder in Cartersville Store Shooting
One armed robbery suspect was killed in a December 2016 shootout at Sunoco on U.S. 411.
CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Cartersville police have arrested a suspect in connection to the fatal shooting of a man inside a convenience store during an armed robbery.
Demarcus Demond Crumbley, 27, was located Feb. 2 in DeKalb County by its sheriff's office's Fugitive Squad. He was taken into custody on charges of armed robbery and felony murder, Cartersville police spokesperson Lt. Mike Bettikofer said.
On Dec. 27, 2016, Cartersville police responded to a shooting that occurred inside Sunoco at 2741 U.S. 411.

Officers arrived on the scene to find a male, identified as 24-year-old Decatur resident Ronald Deonte Johnson, had been shot and killed by the store clerk. Throughout the investigation, detectives identified Crumbley as a suspect and warrants for his arrest were secured.
Cartersville police were able to apprehend Crumbley with the help of the squad as well as the DeKalb County Police Department's Gang Unit, Chief Frank McCann added.

Crumbley remains held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail. Cartersville police note the investigation remains active, and additional charges could be filed.
