Youth Deer Hunt At Allatoona Lake Set For Dec. 2-3

This archery-only event allows youth to learn responsible hunting practices.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District will host an archery-only youth deer hunt at Allatoona Lake in early December.

This annual event, set for Dec. 2-3 at the Allatoona Lake Project Management Office, allows for the corps to "give back to the community by teaching our nation’s youth responsible hunting practices," it said.

To participate in the hunt, a parent or guardian must accompany each youth hunter and possess a valid Big Game License in the state of Georgia (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app).

Hunting blinds will be available at McKinney Campground by reservation only to youth ages 15 and under. Reservations for hunting blinds will be taken Oct. 13 through Nov. 3 by phone or in person from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

In the event of an overflow of requests for hunting blinds, Allatoona Lake reserves the right to use a lottery to fill open spots. To request access to a hunting blind please contact or visit:
