Atlanta City Council President Ceasar Mitchell hosts 17th semi-annual College Prep Series to help Atlanta students increase ACT and SAT scores
The College Prep Series provides an opportunity for all students to have access to valuable test preparation services at no cost.

Atlanta City Council President Ceasar Mitchell will host his 17th semi-annual College Prep Series (CPS) on November 8 at Maynard H. Jackson High School. Atlanta Board of Education Members Leslie Grant (District 1) and Matt Westmoreland (District 3) will serve as honorary co-chairs for the free SAT and ACT preparation series. This yearβs sponsors include The Princeton Review, Georgia Power, Atlanta Public Schools, The Scholarship Academy, Georgia Beverage Association, Orange Business Services, Hands On Atlanta, HBF (Hojeij Branded Foods) and eCampus.
Upon arrival, students will enjoy a continental breakfast from 8 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. In addition, boxed lunches will be provided to participating students at the end of the testing period. At 8:30 a.m., PSAT and PRA testing will begin, with the PSAT concluding at 11:30 a.m. and the PRA ending at 12:30 p.m. An informative college prep parent session will be conducted while students are testing.
The CPS is a valuable opportunity for students to experience college entrance exams in a simulated test environment. The series is free to students through a partnership between Council President Mitchellβs Office and The Princeton Review. Participating students are able to take the Princeton Review Assessment (PRA), which helps students determine which test, the SAT or ACT, gives them the best chance at earning a high score.

βAtlantaβs youth face an increasingly competitive college admissions environment,β said Council President Mitchell. βOur College Prep Series provides an opportunity for all students to have access to valuable test preparation services at no cost.β
ACT and SAT scores for Georgia students lag behind the national average, and composite scores for minorities are even lower. Many students who score well on college entrance exams have the means to enroll in expensive test preparation courses, an option thatβs beyond the reach of many students that benefit from CPS. Since inception, the preparation program has helped hundreds of metro Atlanta students improve SAT and ACT scores.
