City manager suspended amid investigation into $15K in unauthorized payments (wsbtv.com) — East Point’s city manager, Redmond Jones, has been placed on 10 days of administrative leave while officials investigate more than $15,000 in alleged unauthorized payments, including overtime and a boosted car allowance. Concerned residents pushed the issue to City Council, which went into executive session before voting on the suspension, and more details are expected as the probe continues.
   

2. Food Bank CEO Kyle Waide tapped to lead Downtown Atlanta Inc. (saportareport.com) — East Point readers may recognize Kyle Waide as the Atlanta Community Food Bank leader who oversaw the move to its massive 345,000-square-foot East Point facility; he’s now been tapped to lead Downtown Atlanta Inc. Starting in December, Waide will guide major downtown revitalization efforts, bringing experience in coalition-building and large-scale change that could influence regional investment, jobs, and services connected to East Point residents.
   

3. LongHorn responds to viral roach video at one of its restaurants (thestate.com) — A LongHorn Steakhouse in East Point is under scrutiny after a former employee’s viral video showed cockroaches, dirty conditions, and questionable food handling in the kitchen. Recent state health inspections initially cited multiple violations but then showed rapid improvement, with the restaurant scoring 99 out of 100 just weeks later after LongHorn says it brought in new leadership and addressed the issues.
   

4. Microsoft won't stop building data centers, but it is trying to give back to the environment (neowin.net) — Microsoft is rolling out new nature-focused designs at its data centers, including one in East Point, aiming to restore habitats and protect nearby land while expanding cloud infrastructure. For local residents, that means the company plans more green space, water-conscious practices, and collaboration with community leaders as it balances environmental concerns with growing AI and data demands.
