Atlanta Man Convicted in Cascade Murder

Jabarri Ash will be spending the rest of his life in prison for the murder of Mario Shaw.

ATLANTA, GA -- An Atlanta man was sentenced to life in prison plus five years in the murder of his friend and co-drug dealer.

Jabarri Ash was convicted of murdering Mario Shaw in February 2013.

Ash killed Shaw by shooting him once in the head and once in the torso. Shaw was found deceased by his roommate in his apartment on Landrum Drive. Witnesses reported that Ash and Shaw had been arguing earlier in the week and that Shaw was afraid of Ash.

Ash and Shaw were longtime friends and drug dealers. After killing Shaw, Ash went to his girlfriend’s house, showered, changed clothes, drove to the Atlanta airport and rented a car. Ash then fled with his girlfriend to Jacksonville, Florida where he was later apprehended.

Neighbors identified Ash as the man who had been arguing with Shaw and as the man whose car was parked outside of Shaw’s apartment at the time of the murder. Ash’s cellphone placed him in the location of Shaw’s apartment at the time of the murder. Ash’s alibi was that he had been with his girlfriend the whole night. However, texts between Ash and his girlfriend as well as the fact that Ash told his girlfriend of Shaw’s death before Shaw’s body had been found, debunked this alibi.
