TV reports from the scene stated that the victim is Officer Reggie Robinson, a 35 year-old recent graduate of the Police Academy.Â
APD Public Affairs Officer Carlos said that the officer was in a foot pursuit with a suspect or group of suspects when shots were fired. Some reports stated that authorities believe that the bullet that hit Officer Robinson may have been fired from an accidental discharge, but the police's statement refutes that. A suspect was caught not far from the scene with a weapon.
