Love in Action Voter Rally Thursday
Activist and Pastor Rev. Albert Love spearheading efforts to increase voting and voter registration in southwest Atlanta and beyond.

Love In Action Ministries, an extension of Boat Rock Baptist Church, is sponsoring a voting rally Thursday evening to encourage voter participation in the upcoming Nov. 8 local elections.
The rally, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Boat Rock Baptist Church, 1136 Metropolitan Pkwy., will focus on the voting process, registration deadlines and requirements, and candidate qualifications.
Participants will include the Rev. Frank Brown, Pastor of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church; Dr. H. Crockett, Director of the Brisbane Institute at Morehouse College, and William H. Boone, Associate Professor of Political Science at Clark Atlanta University.

Rev. Albert E. Love, Pastor of Boat Rock Baptist, said he is spearheading this initiative to focus on local political races, which are not as popular as state or national races.
“Local races are many times [not] under the the radar, but local elections are bread and butter elections," Love said. "They determine [policies dealing with] water, street conditions, garbage pick-up.”

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, statewide city elections will be held in East Point, College Park, Fairburn, Riverdale, Forest Park, Jonesboro, Lithonia, Jonesboro, Marietta, and Decatur.
Another goal of the rally, Love said, is to encourage other churches to get involved in voter registration.
Two other churches have already agreed to plan follow-up rallies. A voter empowerment collaborative plan will be introduced at the rally to help churches develop strategies to increase the number of voters in local elections.
Rev. Love believes more church participation is imperative and can help solve community concerns.
“Churches are the central focus in our community," he said. "They meet regularly, they have resources, and they have people.”
The Concerned Black Clergy is co-sponsoring the rally. For more information, please call 404-788-4542.
