Cascade Youth Organization ("CYO") Taps John Williams for Board

CYO President: Williams Will Add "Spark" To Growing League's Board

Cascade Youth Organization (β€œCYO”) announced today the addition of the newest member to its Board of Directors - John β€œJ” Williams, Vice President of Marketing for Worldstar Marketing Agency and also Co-Founder of The Atlanta Business & Entertainment Exchange networking group. This news follows CYO’s recent triumph in traveling to Florida to compete in - and win - an interstate football competition known as ”The Pigskin Classic Championship.”

β€œWe are delighted to have John Williams join our Board at a time that our organization is experiencing both growth and numerous achievements,” stated Eric V. Thomas, who is the President of CYO and also Pastor of Saint Peter Missionary Baptist Church in Southwest Atlanta. β€œWe met through a common friend - Attorney Brian Poe - and in the short time that I have known him, I know that John has a big heart, numerous connections in sports and entertainment, and is committed to leveraging his contacts and resources to uplift our children on and off the sports playing fields. John gave me a check in our very first meeting - and we used those funds and donations from others to travel to Florida for the interstate competition that our children won. He also facilitated my appearance on the radio show ”Game Changers” with Lisa Faulkner just prior to our trip to Florida, and he appeared along with me. John Williams will add a major spark to our Board - in fact, he already has.”

Cascade Youth Organization was founded more than 55 years ago with a mission to develop youth into the leaders of tomorrow. Its programs use sports to teach youth the fundamental values of teamwork, leadership, diligence, and commitment. Based in Southwest Atlanta, CYO runs several athletic programs throughout the year including cheerleading and football in the fall, and baseball in the spring. CYO athletes have used their skills honed in youth leagues to earn league championships, high school varsity positions, college athletic scholarships, as well as continuing on to careers in professional sports. The relationship between academics and athletics is an integral part of the CYO commitment to leadership development. Athletes participating in youth leagues are required to meet minimum standards of academic performance. In addition to Thomas, other board members (officer title) include: Ross Mosley (Vice-President), Teneisha Wilson (Treasurer), Semone Fraser (Secretary), Marion Delapierre (Vice Football Commissioner), and Lavita Simpson (Cheer Commissioner).

Regarding his appointment to the Board, John Williams states, ”This is a wonderful day for me, and I am honored and humbled by this appointment. I want to thank Pastor Eric Thomas - and all of the Board members - for this opportunity. I am ready to work! Pastor Thomas shared his vision with me, and I am behind it 100%. The sports field is a place where we can all come together. The way I see it, CYO children are winners the day they walk on the field and participate, as long as they do it as a team and are listening to and learning from their coaches, parents, and themselves. I believe 2015 can be CYO’s greatest year yet!”
