CAU Jazz Under The Stars With Grammy Nominated Maysa as Headliner

An unforgettable evening with one of the best voices in Jazz and Soul

I was introduced to Maysa Leak at The Center Stage when she performed as lead singer with British jazz- funk band Incognito Her voice is once you hear it, one you'll never forget. She became one of my favorite jazz, R& B and Soul singers of all times and every chance I get, I go to her concerts when in town.

Tonight she is the headliner for the Clark Atlanta University Guild (CAU Guild) the 23rd Annual Jazz Under The Stars concert on the Harkness Hall Quadrangle at Clark Atlanta University (CAU) 223, James P. Brawley Drive, Atlanta 30314. along with the CAU Jazz Orchestra and the CAU Jazz Vocal Ensemble. There is a silent auction at 6:30 and the concert begins at 7 p.m. rain or shine.

Maysa majored in classical voice performance at Morgan State University; during her studies there she began writing and recording original material. She also placed second in Baltimore's first annual Billie Holiday Vocal Jazz Contest and in 1990 auditioned for Stevie Wonder's vocal group Wonderlove. She was accepted into the group but joined only after she had earned her degree from Morgan State in 1991.Maysa, a Grammy nominated, Soul Train Award winner, is now celebrating her 12th solo album and in 2016 will celebrate 25 years in the music industry.
