In recognition of Women's History Month and in collaboration with Black Mecca of the South Tours, the Auburn Avenue Research Library presents, A Life of Service: Honoring Dr. Georgia Dwelle. This community discussion, facilitated by local historian Nasir Muhammad, will explore the life of Dr. Georgia Dwelle, the first Spelman College alumna to attend medical school (Meharry Medical College). In 1920, she established the Dwelle Infirmary at 14 Boulevard Avenue in Northeast Atlanta, GA. The Dwelle Infirmary was the first general hospital for African Americans and the first obstetrical hospital for African American women.
