Closing Reception for "American People, Black Light: Faith Ringgold's Paintings of the 1960s"

The final opportunity to view the landmark exhibition American People, Black Light: Faith Ringgold's Paintings of the 1960s,is Monday, May 21 at Spelman College Museum of Fine Art. A closing reception at 6:30 pm will mark the end of the exhibition's more than three-month run at the Museum.

American People, Black Light: Faith Ringgold's Paintings of the 1960s is an artistic exploration located at the intersection of race, gender and class. Widely known for her vibrant story quilts that celebrate the people and places from her Harlem childhood, her travels and countless black luminaries and children's books, Faith Ringgold's pointed political paintings disappeared from view for more than 40 years. This nationally touring exhibition is the first comprehensive survey of Ringgold's influential paintings of the 1960s.
