Volunteers lend a helping hand to clearing the West End's newest urban agritourism attraction. Atwood Community Gardens & Urban Farm is a 3.5 acre urban farm located in the heart of the West End Atlanta Community and offers the following amenities that require constant maintenance and/or upkeep:
- educational training areas
- farmer’s market and outdoor cafe
- petting farm
- natural habitat environments
- family picnic area
- community training garden and urban farm area
- outdoor event facility
- walking trails
- outdoor classroom and amphitheater
The NEXT Steps Youth Entrepreneur Program manages Atwood Community Gardens. We ues Atwood to introduce youth to career pathways in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) by teaching them how to convert transferable farm and market management skills into civic leadership, social entrepreneurism, environmental stewardship, socio-economic and community development (health and wellness), and urban agritourism initiatives.
