They Like to Never Quit Praisin' God: The Role of Celebration in Preaching

The Spelman College Wisdom Center will host a preaching workshop “They Like to Never Quit Praisin' God: The Role of Celebration in Preaching” on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 12 p.m. in Sisters Chapel.

Guest speaker, the Rev. Dr. Frank A. Thomas, senior pastor at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, in Memphis, Tenn., will discuss the role of celebration in preaching. Rev. Thomas will also examine public speaking as an influential method of oratory and review the centrality of biblical text, craft preaching illustrations, and examine ways to improve engagement between the preacher and audience.

The workshop will build a fresh framework for a range of religious vocations, and explore the structure of preaching and the art of writing and preaching sermons.
