Flip Burger, a boutique gourmet burger place with hip decor can pride itself for having one of the best spots in Atlanta. The roof top patio on the N. Highland Avenue location has an open relaxing ambience with flat screen TVs, modern picnic tables with snazzy umbrellas up front and a covered cushy lounge area in the back. Watching the sunset on the roof top, sipping a fab cocktail, eating succulent burgers and conversing with friends is truly a fun night out for happy hour or a quick bite after a show.
What I like most about my recent visit there along with other local media types getting a sneak peak of the new place, in addition to the flicker of the candles in the warm spring night, was the food of course. Tried a "Oaxaca burger" that was topped with avocado, cilantro-lime mayo, queso fresco and pico degallo. That night they were serving sliders and my second favorite was the butcher's cut - beef burger with crumbled bleu cheese, caramelized onions, soy truffle, vinaigrette , frisee, pickled shallots and red wine jam. I'm not your typical burger person but with the variety of topping combinations and the juiciness of the burgers at Flip, I enjoyed them. They also serve hotdogs, soups and salads, onion rings and fries.
Cocktails were special with interesting combos. My fave was he "State of the Nation". My friend Andre who was along for the event thought that one with its hangar one vodka, apricot-maple syrup, lemon and ginger beer was a little too sweet. Since I like sweet drinks it was fine for me. He preferred the "Heaven or Las Vegas" drink that included cranberry-jalapeno puree and tequila.

Parking is a challenge but they do have valet service which makes it easier. If you don't use the valet service it is a little hike to their parking lot unless you find a space on the street. The parking attendents on that night were two brothers who are Clark Atlanta University students. They were very pleasant and it was good to see young men making their way through school.
