Friendship Baptist Church Launches Inaugural Maynard Holbrook Jackson Lecture Series on Ethical Leadership And Museum Exhibit
Friendship Baptist Church on Walnut St. in Southwest Atlanta held its first installment of the Maynard Holbrook Jackson Jr.Speaker Series on Ethical Leadership following a screening of Maynard The Documentary on Saturday.
Panelists for the launch of the series were Attorney Andrew Patterson who began his career as a partner in the law firm of Jackson, Patterson & Parks, founded by Maynard Jackson; Rev. Albert E. Love who worked with members of the clergy and Mayor Maynard Jackson to calm community fears during the missing and murdered children crisis and Ingrid Saunders Jones, who once served as Executive Assistant to Maynard Jackson Jr. and is currently Chair of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., (NCNW,) one of the oldest organizations dedicated to advancing opportunities for African American women.
The Maynard Holbrook Jackson Jr. Speaker Series on Ethical Leadership is an ongoing celebration of the life and leadership legacy of the former Atlanta Mayor. The lecture series engages prominent leaders and scholars in the fields of public service, civic leadership, religion and the humanities in stimulating community dialogues on ethical leadership.

The inaugural Maynard Jackson Speaker Series was launched at Friendship Baptist Church where Maynard's father, the Rev. Maynard Holbrook Jackson Sr. served as pastor from 1945-1953. Attendees viewed the documentary MAYNARD followed by the panel discussion on Mayor Jackson's legacy of Ethical Leadership moderated by the Rev. Dr. Richard W. Wills Sr., Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church.

After the talk guests enjoyed lunch provided by Jackmont Hospitality, toured the Friendship Baptist Church Museum and Archives and viewed the exhibit titled, "Maynard H. Jackson Jr., A Son of Friendship" which is still on display and open to the public. Friendship Coordinators are Sadie Dennard Community Relations, Deacon Maria Coleman Holloway and Curtis Evans Administrator along with Maynard H. Jackson III and Mrs. Wendy Eley Jackson, producer of the MAYNARD film. Curators of the exhibit are Tae Jackson, Ann Pope and Vanessa Brown.
