Fulton Schools: More Than 96,000 Students Attend First Day of Classes
The Fulton County School System has released some facts regarding its first day of the 2014-15 school year, which was on Monday, Aug. 11.

Here’s a look at the Fulton County’s School System’s First Day of School – By the Numbers compilation:
- More than 96,000 students attended school on the first day.
- 725 new teachers hired.
- 760 buses picked up students along 1,600 routes.
- 500+ teachers attended “Summer Summit” professional development conference.
- 500+ principals, assistant principals, school leaders and central office administrators attended “Building Our Future” leadership conference.
- 95 new bus drivers hired and trained.
- 66 school buses replaced with new models.
- 100% of bus drivers showed up for routes (i.e., no sick days, call-ins, etc.)
- 855 full-time bus drivers completed safety and proficiency trainings.
- 1 new elementary school opened.
- 23 major renovation projects completed.
- 4,500 facility work requests completed over the summer.
- 23 gym floors refinished.
- 5 high schools installed new gym lighting systems.
- 6 Career and Technology Education labs renovated.
- 13 school interiors repainted.
- 4 schools under construction for 2015-16 opening.
