The Event: Enjoy an evening with artist LeiSha Starchia and photographer Kevin Parker as they present Southern Belles, Ghetto Pearls: Reclaiming the Crown. This is a series of paintings and photography showcasing positive images of Atlantaβs up and rising future women. This is the opening reception of the exhibit that was inspired by the need of positive images for young girls.

2. It's Win or Go Home.
When/Where: Applebeeβs, 3690 Cascade Road, Saturday & Sunday, TBA
The Event: Once again basketball is the center of the Sports World but this time itβs the professionals turn on the road to the NBA Finals. Will it be a repeat of 2010 finals Lakers vs. Celtics; will it be (record wise) The Best in the West (San Antonio Spurs) vs. The Beast in the East (Chicago Bulls); will it be the boys from South Beach vs. the run and gun of The Oklahoma City Thunder; will it be our Hawks vs. our rival New Orleans Hornets. Whatever combination of teams it is, it will be memorable and maybe even historical. Come down to Applebeeβs right here on Cascade and watch the excitement as Lakersβ coach Phil Jackson goes for his fourth three-peat and Koby Bryant attempts to tie the Jordon-Pippen led Bulls with 6 rings. While the other 15 teams look to dethrone the two time defending World Champion Lakers. 3. Weekend Movie Release
When/ Where: Movies ATL, 3760 Princeton Parkway, Friday β Sunday; Show time starts at 12:10 a.m. and last show starts at 10:30 p.m.
The Event: Wes Cravenβs Scream 4, opens across the country, itβs the film thatβs suppose to break all the rules for this highly popular slasher movie. 4. 150 Anniversary of the War Between the States: Β American Civil War; Blue vs. Gray
When/Where: Fort Sumter, South Carolina, April 12th 1861
The Event: The Civil War started when Confederate soldiers attached a Union held installation at Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, South Carolina. Though this event was recognized on this past Tuesday, it is important to know that major and decisive battles took place in president day Southwest Atlanta. Many during the Atlanta Campaign which led to the Battle and Burning of Atlanta, which contributed to the Unionβs victory and subsequently the end of Slavery in this country. One of those battles was the Battle of Ezra Church, which has a historical marker @ Mozley Park, 1565 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. This weekend, look around the Cascade area and visit the historical marker at Mozley Park and other historical markers to see what took place in this community.
