Β 1. Jazz it up: Sultry Sounds

Β Where/When: Landon’s Restaurant & Bar, 3752 Cascade Rd., Suite 100, Friday, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Β The Event: This Friday, the Antoine Knight Band will jazz it up at Landon’s. You can enjoy a night of Jazz on an enclosed patio where you are up close or listen as you dine in the elegant, yet relaxing restaurant.Β  Although they receive walk-ins, it is better to call and reserve at 404-472-2424.

Β Pricing: $5 for patio seating and free to listen from inside the restaurant, check website for menu prices. Also join Landon’s for a Sunday Brunch Buffet and A la Carte Dining.

2. Book signing at Medu:

Where/When: Medu Bookstore, 2841 Greenbriar Pkwy., Saturday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Event: Medu Bookstore, owned and operated by Nia Darnel for more than a score, opens its doors and brings Growing Up COGIC: Success Stories Born in the Church of God in Christ. Β Listen to exerts of the book and hear why this exceptional women of God felt the need to write this book. Author, Elizabeth W. Wilson will be on hand for this conversation and to sign books. 3. Community Clean-Up Day: Volunteers

Where/When: Adamsville Recreation Center, 3201 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Event: In an effort to go with the motto β€œStriving for a cleaner, safer Atlanta”, Atlanta City Councilman C.T. Marin will host Community Clean-up Day. Sponsored by the councilman, the Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services, Home Depot and UNCC. Also this is an event for Neighborhood Planning Unit T (NPU-T). Volunteers will meet at the Recreation Center while the dumpsters will be located at the Old CVS Pharmacy, 34 Peyton Road and Collier Ridge Shopping Center MAXWAY, 3509 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.

4. An Evening with Sonia Sanchez

Where/When: Southwest Arts Center, 915 New Hope Rd, Saturday 7:30 p.m.

The Event: Β An exciting evening with poet, playwright, author and activist, Sonia Sanchez. Sanchez will infuse and delight you while reading excerts from her recently published work I’m Black when I’m singing, I’m blue when I Ain’t.

5. Southwest Arts Center Presents:

Where/When: Southwest Arts Center, 915 New Hope Road, Friday, 7 p.m.Β to 1:30 a.m.

The Event: The Antidote: Stress Relief Stimulating Thought and Generating Positive Energy to Better the Community is an invitational art exhibition and dance festival featuring 13 visual artists and 13 DJs paired together. 6. James Hiram Malone Exhibition

Where/When: Hammonds House Museum, 503 Peeples Street, Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Event: James Hiram Malone: 60 years of Art, A Diamond Jubilee Celebration recognizes the work of one of Atlanta’s legends in the arts community. This is the last weekend of the celebration, so please come out and see true art like College Student and Church Diversity Celebration.
