1) Bazaar Noir – Jewelry Edition:

Where/When: Art on 5 Gallery, Noon to 6 p.m., Sat., 2001 MLK Jr. Dr. Suite #530.

The Event: The last time Bazaar Noir was here, it was for the Indie Series: Fashion Designer Showcase which highlights the rising fashion industry. This time the Indie Series presents its Jewelry Designer Edition. This event brings jewelers and exhibitors from all over who have ready-to-wear jewelry and can showcase their work to the public. This series came together to get buyers, jewelers, designers and jewel enthusiast all in one place to see and show a dazzling display of gems, jewelry, beads and minerals. Please come, support and experience what the exhibitors and this showcase installment of the Indie Series have to offer.

2) Back To School Jam 2011:

When/Where: Greenbriar Mall, 2841 Greenbriar Parkway; Saturday 11 am – 3 pm

The Event: Atlanta City Councilmember Keisha Lance Bottoms from Council District 11 in partnership with Amerigroup, Everest College, Greenbriar Mall and Wal-Mart Presents Back To School Jam 2011.

1,000 back packs filled with much needed school supplies will be given away on a one bag per person limit. Pre-registration for theses supplies begins at 9 am near the Burlington Court part of the mall. Supplies are on a first come, first served bases. For more information, contact the councilmember’s office at 404-33-6054.

3) Hammonds House Museum:

Where/When: Hammonds House Museum, 503 Peeples Street, Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Event: The Museum where there is always something happening presents Michael D. Harris’s Equal Rites exhibit. The opening reception was held earlier in the month to an excited crowd who got a chance to meet the artist and see his themes 15 years in the making. This exhibit will last until the 1st of September so Atlanta, do not miss out on this expressive art.

This exhibit celebrates and explains many concepts and themes through sight and imagination, such as inner conflicts, social issues, personal issues and the historical root of the African Diaspora. It includes collaborations built upon the artist own creations, reflects the inner self and then turns autobiographical. Please come out and enjoy Equal Rites: The Art of Michael D. Harris. 4) Ladies Night Out:

Where/when: J.R. Crickets Lounge, 2348 Cascade Road; Saturday 9pm -3pm. 

The Event: Cricket Lounge presents a Ladies Night Out event this Saturday night. Ladies it’s all about you so come on out to the Lounge on Cascade and enjoy live music from 9-12.Then on the wheels of steel comes the mixing styles of the one and only DJ Talib.

So ladies, bring you’re your fun and engaging attitude and enjoy food and drink specialties while getting lost in the eclectic atmosphere of Southwest Atlanta’s premiere lounge spot. 5) Wine tasting @ WineStyles:

Where/When: WineStyles Cascade, 3752 Cascade Rd., Suite #140. Saturday,4 p.m.

The event: Every Thursday and Saturday, your Cascade area WineStyles has a wine tasting. This time, you are in for a treat as wine steward Andre Price will conduct the wine tasting. The wine tasting will feature summer wines mostly white wines, such as a variety of Sauvignon Blanc, as they are in season, a couple of red wines for variety and white & Red blends.

As you eat on a variety of snacks you get the unique chance to learn about the wines from Andre and sip on wines from Australia, France, South Africa and others, he will tell you about food parrying. Also you will learn their history as you soak in the ambiance and get cultured by Mr. Price. Once the tasting is over you get the chance to purchase those very wines you sampled or one of their other many wines. Most of their bottles of wine are between $10 and $20.
