The long week is over and the weekend is almost here, No plans? Not to worry, Cascade Patch has you covered.

1) Β Movie in the Park

When/Where: John A. White Park, 1183 Cascade Road, Saturday, 8pm – 10pm

The Event: As part of the City of Atlanta’s Movies in the Park Series, Atlanta City Councilmember Keisha Lance Bottoms and district 11 welcomes you to view the screening of The Karate Kid, starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan on the ball field.

Come out and enjoy the August night air at this Cascade area park, please bring your lawn chairs, blankets, coolers, picnic baskets, family, friends and your fun mentality. This event is sponsored by The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs.

2) Fish Fry on Cascade

When/Where: Cascade Driving Range, 3520 Cascade Rd (next to I-285), Saturday 3pm – 8pm.

The Event: Imagine the aroma of fried whiting or tilapia, well imagine no more, come down to the Cascade Driving Range and get you a fish and chips combo or just the sandwich itself. Chef Good-Good says you won’t be disappointed and the more the merrier. All profits from Frying Fish and Raising Money will benefit the Therrell High Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Price: $5 for the combo, $1 for the slaw and $3 for just the sandwich.

3) Sky is the Limit

When/Where: The Melia Hotel (25th floor), 590 West Peachtree Street, Saturday 8pm – 2am.

The Event: Β Worldwin, J3 Group, β€œAtlanta’s own” Jimmy Jones and Alumni Unit presents PINNACLE: The Professional’s Soiree β€œSky is the Limit” Edition. This event is hosted by several of Atlanta’s young leaders in the fields of business, law, medicine and politics. There is a professional mixer from 9 to 10 then the party is from 10 till 2 am. Who’s all invited…. Well this event is a mixture of professionals, carefree souls, rhythmic sounds and libations. You all are welcome in to enjoy the sounds of DJ G-Nice and DJ. Deliever as you bathe in the atmosphere with the City of Atlanta as your backdrop.

4) The Dream Catchers

When/Where: Bill Lowe Gallery, 155 Peachtree Street #100, Friday 7pm – 11pm

The Event: The Atlanta Urban League Young Professionals (AULYP) will host the 3rd Annual Dream Catchers Award Reception. The awards honor local community leaders and advocates that serve their community with excellence. Also it honors those high school seniors who show academic excellence. The Mistress of Ceremony for the night will be 11 Alive’s own Nina Brown. Β 

The nominees were identified based on AULYP’s empowerment of civic engagement & Leadership, civil rights and racial justice, economic growth, education and health & quality of life. At this event, you can honor the recipients, mix & mingle, listen to live entertainment, bathe in the atmosphere of the gallery and participate in a silent auction.
