Welcome to the annual House in the Park event. Come ready to dance that dance, as DJs Kai Alice, Kemit, Ramon Rawsoul and Salah Ananse make the park come alive with their mixing styles, funky beats and soulful sounds. This event brings together creative DJs, creative artist and a diverse audience ready for the feel of house music.

2) Book Festival: Downtown Decatur
Where/When: Historic Downtown Decatur, Labor Day Weekend, Friday 3β6 p.m. (opening), Saturday 9:30 a.m.β9 p.m. and Sunday, 11:30 a.m.β9 p.m.
The Event: Historic Downtown Decatur, our sister city, annually host the countryβs largest independent book festival, the AJC Decatur Book Festival. This event is for the entire metro area so make that trip to the east and enjoy the festivities and activities. Follow this map to see the location of various festival events and activities.
This festival will feature lectures, readings and signings from 300 authors from all genres and from all over the country, such as Chicagoan Shirley Strawberry, author of The Strawberry Letter, and Atlantaβs own Tayari Jones, author of Silver Sparrow. Β Β
Mingle with your favorite author and get introduced to some new ones; go to a reading, signing or lecture; listen to a poetry reading or jam to the music; take your kids to children events; liven up your palate with wine and/or cooking demonstrations. Where/When: Hammonds House Museum, 503 Peeples St., Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
The Event: Hammonds House Museum continues to bring excellent art and show pieces so please continue to support your local museum as it continues to present, Michael D. Harrisβs Equal Rites exhibit. The exhibit along with its themes was 15 years in the making and will last until Sept. 11, so art lovers, history buffs and well-rounded Atlantans do not miss out on this conceptual and expressive art exhibit. This exhibit not only celebrates various concepts and themes through sight and imagination, such as social issues and , but it explains them and their historical root.
