Get your taxes done for free with United Way's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program
Get you taxes done for free!

United Way of Greater Atlanta announced today its FREE Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is back! If your household income is less than $53,000 in 2014, youβre eligible to have your taxes done by trained volunteers. VITA offers free tax preparation services to low- and moderate-income families, helping them avoid costly income tax preparation fees, and helps to ensure that those who are eligible receive the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Child Tax Credit and other available tax credits. A kickoff event will be held at Greenbriar Mall on January 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
βFor the second year in a row, United Way of Greater Atlanta is taking the lead on a program that helps families keep and save their tax refunds,β says Milton Little Jr., president of United Way of Greater Atlanta. βJust last year, VITA helped put $18 million in the pockets of working families and more than $28 million back into the community.β
This year, VITA will feature Super Saturdays and will have an increased number of trained volunteers available to prepare taxes. For more information on VITA, including tax preparation sites and volunteer opportunities, visit unitedwayatlanta.org.
