The Life and Times of Robert Smalls Exhibition

SPECIFICS: Visual displays and artifacts, pictures, and other memorabilia documenting the life of Robert Smalls.Β The Auburn Avenue Research Library's website describes Smalls as an enslave man who bought his family's freedom in 1862 by leading a Confederate ship to freedom in Charleston, South Carolina during the civil war.Β Smalls also served as a politician, serving in the South Carolina legislature and the United States House of Representatives.
