2nd Annual Atlanta Ice Cream Festival
WHEN: Saturday, September 10; Noon-6pm
WHERE: Piedmont Park (Charles Allen Drive gates), Monroe Drive and 10th Street, Atlanta, GA 30309
SPECIFICS: Sample a variety of ice cream flavors, food, funnel cakes, cotton candy.Β Additionally, there will be health and fitness screenings and other youth entertainment activities.

Fall Folklife Festival
WHEN: Saturday, September 10, 11am to 4pm
WHERE: Atlanta History Center, 130 West Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta, GA 30305
SPECIFICS: Meet local artists who use traditional techniques like pottery, wood turning, blacksmithing, and basketmaking to produce great art.Β Local chefs will discuss farm to table trends.Β There will also be live music, a petting zoo, and storytelling for the kids.
COST: Free with price of admission: $16.50 for adults, $13 for seniors (65 and up) and students (13 -18years), and $11 for youth (4-12 years). There is a $2 discount if tickets are purchased online.

Life and Death in the Pyramid Age: The Emory Old Kingdom Mummy
WHEN: Saturday, September 10; 10am-4pm and Sunday, September 11; 12pm-4pm
WHERE: The Carlos Museum, 571 S. Kilgo Circle, Atlanta, GA 30322
SPECIFICS:Β View a rarely seen Egyptian Mummy acquired from a Middle Egypt site in a 1920 excavation.Β The excavation will also focus on the mummification and burial process, as well as the social and political changes that marked the end of the Pyramid Age.
