Hammonds House reception Sunday for acclaimed photographer David Johnson and other family-friendly weekend events for Cascade Patchers.

The first official weekend of fall brings educational activities designed to stop bullying, provide a glimpse of the past, and bring laughter through storytelling.

SPECIFICS:  David Johnson is known for his photgraphs of African-American life during the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. Johnson has photographed noted African-Americans including Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall and poet Langston Hughes. He also captured stirring photographs of the Civil Rights Movement and San Francisco's Fillmore District during its great jazz age. His work will be on display from September 25 to November 13.
