Greater Mountain Baptist Church Anniversary Worship Service

On Sunday, December 8th the Greater Mountain Baptist Church located at 3346 M.L.King Jr, Drive will celebrate their 2nd anniversary during the morning worship service at 11am.
The theme of the anniversary is, "Building the body of Christ one soul at a time", and the Honorable "Able" Mable Thomas, lifelong community activist will be the guest speaker.
On the second anniversary of the Greater mountain Baptist Church, it seems appropriate to emphasize that a band of 5 Christians under the leadership of Reverend Douglas Demetrius Prather organized Greater Mountain Baptist Church in September of 2011 in a meeting to address the spiritual and social needs of the Atlanta community at large.
It is of equal importance to note that symbolically the church received its certificate of incorporation from then Secretary of State of Georgia Brian Kemp on December 25th 2011. The inaugural service was held on February 12th, 2012 at 11am in a meeting room at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Suites located at 1325 Virginia Avenue.
In a deliberate effort to be more attuned to the concerns and needs of the African American community, services were later relocated to the present meeting place at 3346 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in the chapel of the Historic Herschel Thornton Mortuary in the Adamsville community, an Atlanta institution. Under the dynamic, sound and visionary leadership of the Senior Pastor, Rev. D. D. Prather and the Associate Pastor, the Rev. Joseph Flint, Greater Mountain Baptist Church continues to be “a Christ centered church serving in spirit and in truth bridging social, economic and generational gaps."
