Hello. My name is Denechia, and I am a Fulton County Green because I believe grassroots movements can transform the political landscape of Metro Atlanta into one that is committed to social justice for all.
I believe that all voices deserve to be heard, mainly the ones that are not swayed by corporate interests. The personal is more political than ever, and I refuse to allow the rest of my life's choices be dictated by upper-class, white, heterosexual males. I desire a government that is inclusive of the marginalized, such as immigrants, people of color, people with disabilities, and youth. I want my political leaders' views to reflect the realities of my life, as well as the world around me. No longer will I wait for somebody else to tackle issues that are important to me because I am capable and ready to organize.
Elections should be decided by PEOPLE, not by super PACs. We must stand in solidarity to affect positive change in our neighborhoods and create a better future for Fulton County. The people united will never be defeated by the woes of unjust home foreclosures, inadequate public transportation, and institutional racism... as long as we always remember to vote for our hopes and not our fears.
