Metro Atlanta Chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Celebrate their 107th Founders' Day

Starting on Wednesday, December 4th, and concluding on Sunday, December 8th, the Metro-Atlanta Chapters ofΒ Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. are celebrating 107 years of leadership and service to the immediate andΒ surrounding community.

The collection of graduate chapters and undergraduate chapters are working together inΒ providing a wide-range of events for the general public.

On Thursday, December 5th, at 7pm at the Emory University Medical Center/School of Medicine (1648 PierceΒ Drive), the chapters are hosting their public policy forum. The topic is β€œThe Affordable Healthcare Act (Obama-care): Its Impact on Our Community”. A panel of healthcare experts, local healthcare organizations, and localΒ leadership are providing the general public with opportunities to become more familiar with the information andΒ steps to take regarding this issue. The event is free and open to the public.

On Friday, December 6th, the chapters’ professional networking mixer is taking place at the Lowes Atlanta Hotel (1065 Peachtree Street NE). From 5-9pm,Β
individuals are encouraged to forge professional relationships with chapter members, along with other localΒ professionals from all over the metro-area. Afterwards, attendees are encouraged to head over to Reign NightclubΒ
(1021 Peachtree St NE) for continued social activity and engagement. Those who are planning to attend areΒ encouraged to register at www.societyfridays.com for free admission until 11pm.

The celebration concludes on Sunday, December 8th, at The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church (1879-1921Β Glenwood Ave SE) for the 11:30am service. The general public is invited to worship with members of the fraternityΒ where one of their fraternal brothers, Rev. William Flippen, is the pastor. Events taking place on the fraternity’sΒ actual Founders’ Day (December 4th at Clark Atlanta University) and on Saturday, December 7th (service project atΒ Favor Academy of Excellence) are limited to members of the fraternity only.Β
Β
With metro-area undergraduate chapters at Morehouse, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Clayton State, KennesawΒ State, Southern Polytechnic Institute, and West Georgia, along with graduate chapters based in Atlanta, Decatur,Β Marietta, College Park/East Point, Duluth, Stockbridge/Henry County, Carrolton, and Loganville-Conyers, alongΒ with a lineage of leadership that includes Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the celebration and promotion of outreach andΒ service promises to be like none other for the oldest intercollegiate fraternal organization for African-American men.Β
