Impact Theatre Atlanta, a resident company of the Academy Theatre, presents The Rooting Place by Betty Chaney opening August 5th.

Hapeville, GA. –Impact Theatre Atlanta, a resident company of the Academy Theatre, presents The Rooting Place by Betty Chaney opening August 5th.
The story follows Effie Raye, who returns to rural Mississippi after a thirty year absence. She brings with her a daughter and her newly born grandchild to introduce them to her rooting place. The visit is not everything she expected with lies and dark secrets unfolding. Is love and heritage enough to hold this family together?
“Impact Theatre Atlanta is ecstatic about producing a world premier with The Academy.” says Brenda Porter, Founder and Artistic Director of Impact Theatre Atlanta.. “I have been a long time fan of Betty Chaney’s work and producing this piece has been years in the making.”
