Sarah Lewis, art historian, curator, and author of The Rise: Creativity, The Gift of Failure, and the Search for Mastery, and Kevin Young, the Atticus Haygood Professor of Creative Writing and English, Curator of Literary Collections and the Raymond Danowski Poetry Library at Emory University, will come together for an engaging evening of conversation on Tuesday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Spelman College Museum of Fine Art.
The conversation will cover each writersβ interdisciplinary projects and the Black female radical imagination. A book signing follows.
About the Authors
Sarah Lewis has served on President Barack Obamaβs Arts Policy Committee, been selected for Oprahβs βPower List,β and is a faculty member at Yale University, School of Art in the MFA program.
Kevin Young is a contributor to the RenΓ©e Stout: Tales of the Conjure Woman exhibition catalogue. (The Renee Stout exhibition is currently on view at Spelman Museum through May 17, 2014). Lauded as βone of the most talented poets in the United States,β Young's most recent publication is a collection of poems titled Book of Hours.
This program is organized in collaboration with Spelman College's English Department, Art and the Art History Department, Honors Program, and the AJC Decatur Book Festival.
