Abel 2 Non-Profit's Talent Showcase to be Featured in Disability Awareness Expo

In celebration of 28 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Abel 2 Non-Profit, an organization working to help create self-confident agents of change for people with disabilities through the performing arts, will feature its SHOW-Abilityβ’ talent showcase, in the upcoming Fulton County Disability Awareness Expo in early July.
Created and produced by Myrna Clayton, an internationally renowned jazz singer , artist development coach and founder and executive director of Abel 2, Inc., which works to enhance the quality of life for people and audiences with disabilities, by identifying or creating opportunities for them to either display their talent or enjoy performances as audience members, SHOW-Abilityβ’ is all about highlighting the skills and abilities of professional musicians, actors, singers, comedians and dancers known around the metro-area, who also are differently-able.
βIβm so excited that the Fulton Countyβs Disability Affairs has included Abel 2βs SHOW-Ability in this yearβs entertainment portion of its Disability Awareness Expo,β said Clayton. βAttendees of the event will be able to enjoy performing artists with disabilities featuring the standard Jazz stylings of singer Rusty Taylor; the jaw-dropping skills of Devin βDβELVISβ Lanning as βDβElvis An Elvis Entity,β and comedy from βMr. MiraKoolβ Jessie Simms serving as MC, among others,β shared Clayton.

Abel 2βs Show-Ability Talent Showcase will be held in conjunction with the Fulton County Art Councilβs ArtWalk West End event, which will include the βCreative Like Meβ art exhibit by the Fulton County Department of Behavioral Health.
βFulton County Disability Affairs is pleased to be celebrating the 28th anniversary of the Americans with Disability Act with a Disability Awareness Expo that will educate, enlighten and empower attendees about this significant and vital community,β says Nadine Oka, Fulton County Disability Affairs Administrator. βThe diversity of talent and information that will be on display through Abel 2βs SHOW-Ability talent showcase, as well as the βCreative Like Meβ art exhibit, will offer prime examples of the many contributions this often overlooked community brings to the table,β she said.

The Fulton County Disability Awareness Expo, which is a free event, will be held on Saturday, July 7 at the West End Performing Arts Center, located at 945 Ralph Abernathy Blvd., Atlanta, 30310 from at 2:00p.m. β 7:00p.m. The Expo begins with the SHOW-Abilityβ’ talent showcase which ends at 4:00p.m. Following the showcase, attendees will be able to visit vendor booths featuring community resources, as well as view the βCreative Like Meβ art exhibit, which will be held as part of the Fulton County Art Councilβs ArtWalk West End Collective event, which goes until 7:00p.m. For more information about Abel2, go to Abel2.org.
