Spelman College Digital Moving Image Salon Presents 11th Annual Student Film Showcase
Spelman College presents its annual student documentary film showcase. Each film explores the female body as a tool for social justice.

The Spelman College Digital Moving Image Salon (DMIS) will present the 11th Annual Digital Moving Image Salon Student Film Showcase on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 7 p.m.
Founded by internationally award-winning filmmaker and interactive digital media artist, Ayoka Chenzira, Ph.D., DMIS is a mechanism through which the College encourages and supports the growing number of students interested in creating stories for digital media platforms.
The three student films featured at this yearβs showcase will be βRebel Dance,β produced by Taylor Curry and Carlean McWright, which explores African-American women choreographers who rebelled through dance; βFor Covered Girls,β produced by Jett Bagley and Kayla St. Clair which highlights the journey of being Black, woman and Muslim; and βFlawless Feminismβ produced by Briana Dixon and BriSchΓ© Fair, which discusses the exploration of Black feminism in the wake of BeyoncΓ©.

In addition to the screenings, the DMIS Celebration of Excellence Award will be presented to Deborah Riley Draper, veteran advertising agency executive, filmmaker and award-winning director of the fashion documentary βVersailles β73: American Runway Revolution.β
Free and open to the public, this event will take place at the Midtown Art Cinema, 931 Monroe Drive, NE, Atlanta.
