Trio of Girls Struck by Hit-And-Run Driver in SW Atlanta
Two the teenage girls were seriously injured.
Two of three young teenage girls who were struck by a hit-and-run driver Friday night in southwest Atlanta were seriously injured according to an Atlanta police spokesperson.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. as the trio were walking along Westmeath Drive between Stokes and Emerald avenues. Thatβs when they were hit from behind by a vehicle.
According Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones, one of the girls told authorities that she βsaw a silver four door vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu, stop just before Emerald Ave.β

Β The police report states that the girl βsaw a tall, black male, wearing a red shirt, exit the driver side of the vehicle, look at the girls, then get back into his vehicle and flee up Emerald Ave. SW towards W. Ontario Ave.β
The three girls were taken to Childrenβs Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. As of early Saturday afternoon, one of the girls, a 15-year-old, was conscious and breathing. Another girl, 14, was not conscious and was hooked up to a machine to help with her breathing.

Egleston officials have not specified injuries at this time, and police do not have a suspect.
