Trumpet Awards 25th Anniversary Show Airs on Bounce TV Tonight at 9 PM

Actor Deon Cole of TV Show Black-ish and Actress Nicole Ari Parker Host The Star Studded Trumpet Awards Show

Atlanta based Bounce TV acquired the annual Trumpet Awards founded by civil rights icon Xernona Clayton. The 25th anniversary show will air at 9 p.m. tonight. The awards show celebrates the achievements of African Americans. Clayton was presented with the distinguished “Golden Trumpet Award” in recognition of her leadership as creator of the awards show more than two decades ago.

Bounce recently acquired all assets of The Trumpet Awards and now owns, produces and exclusively premieres the star-filled ceremony.

Black-ish, Angie Tribeca star and two-time EMMY® nominated writer and actor Deon Cole and Rosewood, The Real Husbands of Hollywood and seven-time NAACP Image Award nominated actress Nicole Ari Parker host the ceremony that was taped at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre last Saturday.

Honorees include Martin Luther King III, Impact Trumpet Award and New Edition, Lifetime Achievement Trumpet Award, recent recipients of a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. New Edition was saluted during the awards show in a medley performed by R&B bands Jagged Edge and Silk. Other honorees are Daytime EMMY® nominee Wendy Williams, Trumpet Award for Entertainment; former NBA great Dikembe Mutombo, Humanitarian Trumpet Award; GRAMMY®-winning R & B singer Peabo Bryson, Legend Trumpet Award and fashion blogger Gabi Gregg, Trailblazer Trumpet Award. Wendy Williams did not attend.

An all-star Gospel Tribute rocked the house featuring Shirley Caesar, Erica Campbell, Jekalyn Carr, Le’Andria Johnson, Travis Greene and Derek Minor.

Serving as presenters are Vanessa Bell Calloway, Ed Gordon, Lou Gossett, Jr., David Mann, Willie Moore, Jr., Gary Owen and Bill Withers.

Performers also include Tamela Mann, Regina Belle, BJ the Chicago Kid, Lalah Hathaway, Kenny Lattimore and Keke Wyatt.

Bounce airs on the broadcast signals of local television stations and corresponding cable carriage and features a programming mix of original and off-network series, theatrical motion pictures, specials and live sports Ambassador Andrew Young and Martin Luther King III are founders of the network. Ryan Glover is president.
