I honestly have to say that Eshe Collins is the best person for the job of school board membership, District 6--it is just that simple. When you review the sum of her accomplishments and how she exhibits a passion for education, it becomes clear that there is no other candidate who is prepared to handle policy with the sensitivity of both a teacher and community member.
Eshe is home grown.
A native of Atlanta, Eshe has the proper perspective for a system that has been marked by its past and seeks a better future. You don't really meet too many native Atlantans who grew up attending the public schools and are also deemed as successful adults. This is a tough reality that Atlanta must face and deal with to improve the academic and social odds of 47,000 children. Some people will look at examples like Eshe and wonder what were the right variables behind her success. Her leadership is informed by these variables and her identification with Atlanta as hometown should not be underestimated as an impetus for excellence in service.
Eshe is an example of academic achievement. I believe that a school board should reflect the best values of a community, and it becomes clear, as you review her credentials, that Eshe is an example of academic success. She graduated from Spelman with a Bachelor's in Psychology, has a Master's degree in Urban Teacher Leadership, and a juris doctorate cum laude from North Carolina Central University. Her academic preparation has served to polish her multidimensionally for such a position as school board member. Board members are more than past or current educators; They must have an expertise and understanding of education and community issues, and they should be business savvy with an understanding of the law.
Please make the right decision on Tuesday and vote for Eshe Collins, School Board District 6. Atlanta needs her expertise, dedication, and leadership.
