400 Paddlers to Converge on Chattahoochee for 12th Annual River Race and Festival
There are recreational and competitive categories for racers, including those in kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddle boards.

ATLANTA – As many as 420 paddlers will converge on the Chattahoochee River this Saturday for the 12th Annual Back to the Chattahoochee River Race & Festival. Racers in kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddle boards – of varying ages and skill levels – will vie for prizes and bragging rights along an eight-mile course, which features Class I scenic rapids. The race ends at Riverside Park in Roswell, which is the site of a free family-friendly festival.

Chattahoochee Riverkeeper (CRK) hosts the event, in partnership with the National Park Service and the city of Roswell. The race launches at 9 a.m. from Garrard Landing on Holcomb Bridge Road, and the festival kicks off at 10 a.m. More than 40 community vendors, including environmental exhibitors, children’s activities and local businesses will surround Riverside Park. For the first time this year, there also will be an outdoor climbing wall.

The festival also features live music from three exciting bands, including new headliners Sol Driven Train, a five-piece band from Charleston, S.C., as well as Roswell-based Music Matters “Rock U” band and guitarist Tommy Talton. Music begins at 10:30 a.m. and continues throughout the day until the end of the festival at 3 p.m. For more information on the event, visit www.chattahoochee.org/river-race-festival.php.
