58-Year-Old Man Killed In 4-Vehicle Crash on Ga. 400

The driver collided with two different dump trucks during the crash, which also injured two children, sheriff's deputies say.

CUMMING, GA — A 58-year-old man was killed over the weekend in a four-vehicle crash on Ga. 400 in Forsyth County.

The wreck happened around 6 a.m. Saturday in the highway's southbound lanes just north of Bald Ridge Marina Road, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Gerard "Jed" Lacey, of Dawsonville, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to DFC Scott Collett, the sheriff's office traffic specialist investigator.

Lacey had been driving a 2012 Dodge Ram in the left lane of Ga. 400 when he pulled into the right lane, striking the left-rear side of a 1987 Kenworth dump truck. Lacey's truck began to spin sideways and was struck by another dump truck, a Mack, in the left lane, Collett said.

A 2017 Subaru Outback was then struck by a rear tire of the Mack dump truck, causing the Subaru to then hit the Kenworth, according to Collett.

Two juveniles who were riding in the back seat of Lacey's truck were injured in the crash and taken to an area hospital. One of them had been released as of Monday morning and the other was still in the hospital, Collett said.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
