After Obscene Gesture, Forsyth Dad Teaches Son Respect for Deputies
The young man was given a tour of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office headquarters in Cumming and received a junior deputy badge.

An 8-year-old Forsyth County boy got a lesson in respect from his father and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office after the young man made an obscene gesture at a deputy who was directing traffic.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy didn’t notice the “inappropriate hand gesture,” but the boy’s father saw it and disciplined his son once they got home. To transform the incident into a learning experience, the father contacted the sheriff’s office and asked if he could bring his son to their Cumming headquarters to meet some of the deputies.
The youngster was given a full tour of the headquarters, got to sit in patrol cars, and even received a “junior deputy” badge from the deputy who was directing traffic. Deputies hope the experience helped the young man realize the important job of law enforcement and the need to respect all officers in the course of their duties.
