After Raising $1,500, Sheriff's Deputies' Beards Come Off

The office participated in "No-Shave November" to raise awareness of prostate cancer and to raise money to battle the disease.

Forsyth County sheriff’s deputies have returned to their standard clean shaven appearance after letting their beards grow for a month in an effort to raise money and awareness to fight prostate cancer.

The deputies participated in “No-Shave November,” an effort by the American Cancer Society which has grown in popularity in the past decade. Participants grow their facial hair and donate the money they would have spent on shaving supplies to cancer research, and encourage their friends and family to donate as well in a friendly but competitive fundraiser.

All told, Forsyth’s deputies raised $1,500 to help battle prostate cancer and other men’s health issues before heading over to Goettee’s Barber Shop on Trammel Road in Cumming for the big shave on Dec. 1.

The Sheriff’s Office documented the shave of Deputy Robin Regan on their YouTube channel, a video which can be viewed below.
