Alison Batley, Pinecrest Academy High School Art teacher, graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design-Atlanta (SCAD) on May 31, 2014, with her Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking. Her Luminous Vessels thesis work is currently on display at SCAD Atlanta, and her thesis paper is in the process of being professionally published.
Batley’s work explores many aspects of what it means to be a human being, utilizing a variety of printmaking techniques and other two- and three-dimensional mediums. Through visual metaphors, her work investigates the relationship and interconnectedness surrounding the human experience of love and life in our contemporary age.
Batley has won awards in juried shows and has exhibited work in galleries in Raleigh, Atlanta, New York, Hong Kong, Egypt and Japan. Her Artist book, Veil, won second place in the Artist Book Competition and is part of the permanent collection at SCAD-Atlanta. She won the Excellence Award in an international Small Print competition in Japan. Along with teaching, she recently accepted the Co-Chair position for the Bioethics Art Competition, sponsored by UNESCO Chair in Bioethics and Human Rights.
