IUS Technologies Established in Forsyth County

ALPHARETTA, Ga., December 03, 2012 — IUS Technologies, the new, U.S. subsidiary of South Korea-based Vitzro Group, has recently announced that it will establish its U.S. manufacturing and distribution center in Forsyth County. This new center will bring up to 150 jobs over the next five years and approximately ten million dollars in capital investment.

IUS "Born Smart™" devices manufactured at the new U.S. headquarters help optimize the electric utility smart grid by reducing consumption and waste, decreasing CO2 and greenhouse emissions, and increasing grid capacity – all while reducing customer outages. The company will introduce new remote sensor products for the U.S. market in January, and will subsequently grow its manufacturing and engineering workforce to fulfill customer orders.

The Alpharetta, Ga.-based company is working with the Cumming-Forsyth Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) to streamline processes behind the start-up of manufacturing activities at its 20,000 square foot U.S. headquarters, located at 1355 McFarland 400 Drive Alpharetta, GA 30004.

"We looked at a number of properties when launching our business and specifically chose our site in Forsyth County because of the outstanding support we received from the Cumming-Forsyth Chamber of Commerce," said Elizabeth Shin, operations manager, IUS Technologies. "As we move forward to scale up our manufacturing operations, the workforce training programs we will receive through the GDEcD will allow IUS Technologies to get off to a strong start."

"Our community has emerged as a hub for green technology firms. We are one of the first communities in the nation to develop a green incentive program to reduce the tax burden of green corporations. IUS Technologies exemplifies the kind of firm that our community continues to attract. Their smart grid technology platforms clearly demonstrate the level of innovation that their company is capable of bringing to the US energy industry. We are pleased that they have selected our community as the home of their U.S. headquarters," said David Seago, Chairman of the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce.

IUS is one of several dozen international businesses that the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce has helped bring to Forsyth County in recent years.

When working to launch IUS Technologies, Vitzro Group officials received site selection assistance from the Chamber to ensure it would acquire industrial office space that could be adapted to IUS’s needs. The Chamber also provided an international business documentation package that provides much of the basic information, such as employee manuals, that international businesses need when they establish a U.S. subsidiary.

"We are certainly pleased to have IUS Technologies as part of the business community here in Forsyth County. By selecting Forsyth County as the location for their U.S. headquarters, they are affirming the fact that this county is a great place to do business. We have so much to offer here, including low tax rates, outstanding public safety services and stellar parks. It is great to see yet another company recognizing this and choosing to call Forsyth County home," commented Forsyth County Commissioner Todd Levent.

"It is great and exciting news that IUS Technologies has announced the opening of their new facility in Forsyth County. We know that when a company considers opening a new facility, they have options all across the world and it is especially gratifying when they choose not only Georgia, but Forsyth County. They will add approximately 150 new technology positions in the future that will benefit all of us in Forsyth County. It was a pleasure working with Randall Toussaint of the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce on this project and I also want to recognize the efforts of State Representative Bjay Pak from Lilburn for his personal knowledge and assistance in fostering cultural and business relationships during this project," responded State Representative, Mark Hamilton.

"It is always a great day when I can welcome new innovation and new jobs to Georgia. The fact that IUS-Tech has chosen to make Forsyth County its home is a testament to the strong business community Forsyth has cultivated. I know that IUS-Tech has chosen a good home and welcome them to the Seventh District," stated Congressman Rob Woodall.

As it ramps up its manufacturing lines, IUS will employ the GDEcD’s Georgia Quick Start, a free workforce training program customized for companies in numerous industries. Quick Start helps companies maintain a competitive advantage by providing a training regimen shaped specifically for the skills they are looking to develop in employees.

Through the GDEcD, the Technical College System of Georgia provides Quick Start training for eligible companies at no charge. In 2009, Georgia Quick Start was instrumental in helping another South Korean company, Kia Motors, develop its highly successful manufacturing facility in West Point, Ga.

"The new high-tech jobs created by IUS Technologies at its North Georgia location mean great opportunities for Georgia's workforce, and our strategic focus on the energy industry will benefit from the company's innovative technologies for smart grid electrical applications," said Chris Cummiskey, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

The new, "Born Smart™" VS series of remote smart sensors from IUS Technologies will make their debut at the 2012 DistribuTECH conference, January 29-31 at the San Diego Convention Center, in booth 1550.
