It’s a great day for Lanier Technical College's Rachel Lee of the Welding Program at the Barrow Campus! Rachel was interviewed for a podcast called Glimpse Of A Day In the Life Of @skillsstadium, which shares four-minute videos of people working in high-growth trades, professions, and unique careers. You a glimpse of their world in the videos. Rachel shared her journey to becoming a welder and how going back to school changed her life.
With the current high demand for skilled trades, and how that demand will skyrocket when the USA reopens, Rachel or anyone that wants a fulfilling career should consider the red-hot field of welding.
Besides honing her hands-on skills Ms. Lee serves an Executive member of the Atlanta Section of the American Welding Society (AWS). Lee serves as be the Atlanta Sections’ Student Member Liaison, as well as the Publicity Chairperson.

The AWS recognized that student members are the future of the industry and of the AWS, so the position of Student Member Liaison was established in 2013 to enable the Sections to take advantage of the unique perspective and contributions that student members can offer.
As part of her liaison duties, Ms. Lee serves as a liaison between the Atlanta AWS Section and Student Chapters of local welding and joining training programs; organizes students in the area to select, plan and complete a community project; promotes A.W.S scholarship opportunities to schools in the community, as well as to students; she visits high schools in the Section area to promote welding as a career.
