Big Creek Elementary Posts Huge CCRPI Score

With 101.7 points, Big Creek was the second highest-scoring non-charter public school in the state, school officials say.

CUMMING, GA -- So much for giving 100 percent. Big Creek Elementary, in Cumming, went beyond that.

School officials on Thursday announced that Big Creek earned a 101.7 CCRPI score for the 2015 school year. That means the school earned bonus points that put it over even what's considered an ideal score of 100.

"MUCH TO CELEBRATE!!!" the school said Thursday in a Facebook post.

CCRPI -- College and Career Ready Performance Index -- is the accountability system that replaced No Child Left Behind in Georgia.

According to state education officials, CCRPI is a comprehensive school improvement, accountability, and communication platform for all educational stakeholders that promotes college and career readiness for all Georgia public school students.

In Thursday's post, officials at Big Creek Elementary said that their score was the second-highest in the entire state among non-charter schools.

"This comprehensive measure which scores all dimensions of school effectiveness has affirmed our work, our staff, our community, and above all, the capacity of our students once again!" the post reads. "Celebrate and share this tremendous news!"

To get to its score of 101.7, Big Creek earned 48.4 achievement points, 40 progress points and 10 achievement gap points. The school's additional 3.3 "challenge points" put it over the top.

The CCRPI considers factor including attendance, test performance and improvement, both by the student body overall and by individual demographic groups.
