Fire Officials Say No Working Smoke Detectors in Fatal Cumming House Fire
Forsyth County fire officials are not releasing any information on the deceased until family members are notified.

UPDATE (4:00 p.m.): A spokesman with the Forsyth County Fire Department says that a home which caught fire on Monday morning and caused at least one death likely had no functioning smoke detector.
Jason Shivers told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that firefighters entered the home in the 7700 block of Holyoke Road at roughly 9:30 a.m. and found a person dead inside. Shivers said that the identity and gender of the deceased was being held until his or her family was notified.
Upon investigating the mostly-destroyed home, Shivers told the AJC that investigators discovered a fire alarm system of an obsolete design and believed that the smoke detectors had been inoperable for some time.
