Body Discovered on Lake Lanier

A body was found Thursday night in Lake Lanier at the Sawnee Campground.

Charlotte Ann Church, 50, of Lawrenceville, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at 6 p.m. to the campground off Buford Dam Road, along with responders from the Corps of Engineers, Department of Natural Resources, the Forsyth County Fire Department, and EMS.

Church’s body was spotted by a passerby who called the authorities.

There were no signs of foul play or trauma, according to the FCSO. The cause of death is pending GBI autopsy.
