UPDATE: Body Found in Lake Lanier is Missing Buford Man

UPDATE (3:50 p.m.): Authorities in Hall County have released the identity of the man whose body was discovered in Lake Lanier on Sunday.
According to WSB-TV, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office has identified the remains as belonging to Kelly Nash, 25, who disappeared from Buford on the morning of Jan. 5. Nash, who was 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds, was last seen in the Jimmy Dodd/Buford Dam road area near Buford. He was last seen wearing blue plaid pajama pants and tan Sperry shoes.

According to WSB-TV, a fisherman discovered a man’s body floating in Lake Lanier on Sunday evening and flagged down a nearby boater, who called 911. Hall and Gwinnett county police responded to the scene. Authorities said on Sunday that it looked like the body had been in the lake for quite some time and had seemingly drifted to the location where it was discovered.
Nash’s family had recently increased its reward for information leading to his location to $50,000.

In a statement on the “Kelly Nash Missing” Facebook page, the family said the following:
Thank you for all of your prayers. At this time, the family respectfully request privacy regarding Kelly. We know many of you have questions, as do we, but unfortunately there are no answers to share at the moment. Please continue to keep the Nash family in your thoughts and prayers.
ORIGINAL STORY (8:00 a.m.): Investigators are trying to determine what killed a person whose body was discovered floating in Lake Lanier on Sunday.
According to WSB-TV, a fisherman discovered the body floating in the lake and flagged down a nearby boater, who called 911. Hall and Gwinnett county police responded to the scene, and have already made some discoveries regarding the incident.
WSB-TV says that police have determined that the body belongs to a man, and has been in the water for a portion of time before he was discovered. Police added that it looked like the body had enough time to drift in the lake before Sunday.
Police have not released the man’s identity nor any physical description of the body as of Monday morning.
