UPDATE: Man's Body Discovered at Mary Alice Park

UPDATE (5:40 p.m.): The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has discovered the gender of the person who was found dead on the shores of Lake Lanier on Monday.

Sheriff’s Deputy Robin Regan says that the office’s Marine Patrol unit recovered a man’s body from the lake near Mary Alice Park. The man’s body has been turned over to the Forsyth County Coroner. Investigators are still attempting to ascertain the man’s identity.

ORIGINAL STORY (1:11 p.m.): The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is at Mary Alice Park in Cumming after a body was discovered there on Monday.

Sheriff’s Deputy Robin Regan told Patch that citizens walking along the shores of Lake Lanier discovered the body and alerted authorities. Investigators with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office are processing the scene, and Mary Alice Park has been closed for the duration of the investigation.
