Busy Market Place Intersection To Get Traffic Light
Cumming-area residents had long pushed for a light at the crossing of Market Place Boulevard and Turner Road.
CUMMING, GA -- After years of pushing for it, Cumming area residents are getting a traffic light at the intersection of Market Place Boulevard and Turner Road.
Forsyth County commission members voted 5-0 this week to install the light at the busy intersection near Cumming.
The Forsyth County News reports that the vote went against the recommendation of the county's engineering department, but satisfied residents who have pushed for it, especially since the opening of Costco nearby in 2014.

“I drive this frequently. Not every day, but there’s no doubt in my mind that there’s more traffic,” said commissioner Jim Boff, whose district includes the intersection, according to the News.
Shortly after a stretch of Market Place Boulevard opened in 2008, county officials had said a study of the intersection determined that a signal or four-way stop was not needed there.
