Carrington Academy Midway in Cumming Celebrates Week of the Young Child
Students participated in themed educational activities throughout the week of April 24
Students at Carrington Academy Midway in Cumming celebrated the national initiative Week of the Young Child by participating in several educational activities throughout the week of April 24. Carrington Academy planned a different theme for each day of the week. On Monday, students painted instruments to express their creativity and hung them in the sensory garden on their campus. On Tuesday, students used fresh vegetables to learn how to follow a recipe and prepare healthy tacos for lunch. On Wednesday, students celebrated things found in nature by experimenting with spaghetti worms, planting fruits and vegetables, and painting rocks for the school garden. On Thursday, students painted car tracks, hopscotch pavers and a tic-tac-toe board. On Friday, students and parent volunteers worked on the school garden together.
Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers and families. For more information, visit www.naeyc.org/woyc.
